More than 1.7 million refugees from Ukraine have crossed into other countries since the Russian military operation began on February 24, according to data from the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) on Monday.

The data showed over 59.2 percent of the influx went to Poland.

The UNHCR said it had confirmed the deaths of 406 civilians, including 27 children, in Ukraine, but the real figure was likely much higher.

The latest figures cover the period from February 24 to March 6. On Sunday, the organization reported 364 confirmed deaths.
