U.S. companies including McDonald's and Starbucks announced on Tuesday they are halting business in Russia as the conflict between Russia and Ukraine continues.

Fast-food giant McDonald's said it will temporary close all of its 850 restaurants in Russia, where it employs 62,000 people. Starbucks said it will suspend all operations, including product shipments.

Soft-drinks giants Pepsi and Coca-Cola are also suspending business in Russia. Pepsi said it will halt the sale of its drinks brands, but will continue selling essentials like milk and baby food.
