The Chinese mainland recorded 555 confirmed COVID-19 cases on Thursday, with 397 linked to local transmissions and 158 from overseas, according to data from the National Health Commission on Friday.

A total of 814 new asymptomatic cases were also recorded, and 3,972 asymptomatic patients remain under medical observation.

Confirmed cases on the Chinese mainland now total 112,940, with the death toll remaining unchanged at 4,636 since January last year.

The latest tally of confirmed cases in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan region is as follows:

Hong Kong: 246,135 (25,365 recoveries, 3,150 deaths)

Macao: 82 (79 recoveries)

Taiwan: 21,081 (13,742 recoveries, 853 deaths)
