On top of their failure to reach a breakthrough to ease the conflict, both countries have sustained losses. The Russian Ministry of Defense said as of Thursday, Moscow has destroyed over 3,000 Ukrainian military installations, ranging from surface-to-air missile systems to over 1,000 tanks, and nearly a hundred aircraft. The Ukrainian military said they have destroyed Russian equipment including 300 Russian tanks and about a thousand armored vehicles. 

Moscow has also asked the United Nations Security Council for a meeting to discuss the alleged development by the U.S. of biological weapons in laboratories in Ukraine. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in a video statement has denied that Kyiv was preparing to use chemical weapons or weapons of mass destruction. The UN said it will meet on Friday at Moscow's request.
