Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy denied on Friday that chemical or other weapons of mass destruction had been developed in his country.
"No one is developing any chemical or any other weapons of mass destruction on our soil," Zelenskyy said in an address published on the presidential office's Telegram channel.
Media reports on U.S.-funded biological laboratories in Ukraine emerged recently with some claiming those laboratories store large quantities of dangerous viruses.
Russia also said it had found in the course of military operations that the U.S. uses those facilities for biological military programs, and Kyiv had recently begun erasing traces of these biological programs.
On Thursday, the Russian mission to the UN said it has requested a UN Security Council meeting for March 11 to discuss the military biological activities of the U.S. on the territory of Ukraine.
The U.S., in return, has generally called the reports propaganda and disinformation.
But on Tuesday, U.S. Undersecretary of State for Political Affairs Victoria Nuland admitted that "Ukraine has biological research facilities" as she testified before a Senate Foreign Relations Committee hearing on Ukraine.
