The Chinese mainland recorded 588 confirmed COVID-19 cases on Friday, with 476 linked to local transmissions and 112 from overseas, according to data from the National Health Commission on Saturday.

A total of 1,173 new asymptomatic cases were also recorded, and 5,076 asymptomatic patients remain under medical observation.

Confirmed cases on the Chinese mainland now total 113,528, with the death toll remaining unchanged at 4,636 since January last year.

The latest tally of confirmed cases in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan region is as follows:

Hong Kong: 251,224 (26,242 recoveries, 3,444 deaths)

Macao: 82 (79 recoveries)

Taiwan: 21,163 (13,742 recoveries, 853 deaths)
