The Biological Weapons Convention has been in place since 1975 to ban biological and toxin weapons around the world. The U.S. is the only nation out of 183 signatories that has rejected a verification regime to further enhance the treaty. What is Washington's intention by prohibiting that regime?

Teng Jianqun, a research fellow from the China Institute of International Studies, said that the reason is simple: The U.S. wants to open a window for its military use of biological weapons against human rights.
