The Chinese mainland recorded 1,938 confirmed COVID-19 cases on Saturday, with 1,807 linked to local transmissions and 131 from overseas, according to data from the National Health Commission on Sunday.

A total of 1,455 new asymptomatic cases were also recorded, and 6,287 asymptomatic patients remain under medical observation.

Confirmed cases on the Chinese mainland now total 115,466, with the death toll remaining unchanged at 4,636 since January last year.

The latest tally of confirmed cases in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan region is as follows:

Hong Kong: 254,943 (27,202 recoveries, 3,729 deaths)

Macao: 82 (79 recoveries)

Taiwan: 21,225 (13,742 recoveries, 853 deaths)
