U.S. President Joe Biden and French President Emmanuel Macron discussed the Ukraine crisis over the phone on Sunday.
The White House said in a statement that the two leaders reviewed recent diplomatic engagements and underscored their commitment to hold Russia accountable for its actions and to support the government and the people of Ukraine.
The French presidency, in a statement, said the two presidents "agreed to reinforce the sanctions already imposed on Russia, to support Ukraine and to jointly take all useful initiatives to put an end to the fighting."
Macron later also held a phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and told him about the additional aid that the European Union had decided to provide Ukraine, the Elysee palace said on Sunday.
