The Chinese mainland recorded 1,437 confirmed COVID-19 cases on Sunday, with 1,337 linked to local transmissions and 100 from overseas, according to data from the National Health Commission on Monday.

A total of 906 new asymptomatic cases were also recorded, and 7,039 asymptomatic patients remain under medical observation.

Confirmed cases on the Chinese mainland now total 116,902, with the death toll remaining unchanged at 4,636 since January last year.

The latest tally of confirmed cases in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan region is as follows:

Hong Kong: 259,387 (27,943 recoveries, 3,993 deaths)

Macao: 82 (79 recoveries)

Taiwan: 21,288 (13,742 recoveries, 853 deaths)
