Vahagn Khachaturyan was sworn in on Sunday as Armenian president during a special session of the parliament in the capital city Yerevan.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, foreign ambassadors and NGO representatives.
Khachaturyan was elected by parliament on March 3 as the fifth president in the country's history. According to the Armenian constitution, his term of office is seven years.
The 62-year-old politician, who previously served as the minister of high technology, was nominated by the ruling My Step Alliance.
Former president Armen Sarkissian resigned on January 23, saying he did not have the necessary power to deal with the country's political problems.
