During a phone call with his Spanish counterpart Jose Manuel Albares, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said that China always opposes the use of sanctions to solve problems, including unilateral sanctions that have no basis in international law. Wang's comments come after the Chinese foreign ministry refuted U.S. claims that Russia appealed to Beijing for military assistance in Ukraine.
