The Russian military has controlled the situation at Chernobyl and the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plants with Ukrainian guards and staff, RIA News Agency reported on Tuesday, citing an official from the country's foreign ministry.

The head of Ukraine's state-owned grid operator, Ukrenergo, said on Monday the Chernobyl nuclear power station was relying on electricity from diesel generators after external power supplies to the plant were damaged again.
