The U.S. State Department announced sanctions on 11 senior Russian defense officials, RIA News Agency reported on Tuesday, including Viktor Zolotov, head of the National Guard, and eight deputy ministers from the Russian Defense Ministry.
Japan also imposed personal sanctions against another 17 Russian citizens on Tuesday, including Russian communist leader Gennady Zyuganov, State Duma deputies, businessman Viktor Vekselberg and relatives of businessman Yuri Kovalchuk.
The European Union (EU) on Monday approved a fourth package of sanctions against Russian individuals and entities, the office of the French EU presidency said in a tweet.
EU sanctions were set to include an export ban on luxury goods worth more than 300 euros ($329.58) and a new investment ban on Russian energy projects. They could be formally adopted as early as Tuesday, according to the report.
