The Chinese mainland recorded 1,952 confirmed COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, with 1,860 linked to local transmissions and 92 from overseas, data from the National Health Commission showed on Wednesday.

A total of 1,338 new asymptomatic cases were also recorded, and 9,864 asymptomatic patients remain under medical observation.

Confirmed cases on the Chinese mainland now total 122,456, with the death toll remaining unchanged at 4,636 since January last year.

The latest tally of confirmed cases in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan region is as follows:

Hong Kong: 266,887 (29,223 recoveries, 4,568 deaths)

Macao: 82 (79 recoveries)

Taiwan: 21,402 (13,742 recoveries, 853 deaths)
