The Chinese mainland recorded 1,317 confirmed COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, with 1,226 linked to local transmissions and 91 from overseas, according to data from the National Health Commission on Thursday.

A total of 1,310 new asymptomatic cases were also recorded, and 11,029 asymptomatic patients remain under medical observation.

Confirmed cases on the Chinese mainland now total 123,773, with the death toll remaining unchanged at 4,636 since January last year.

The latest tally of confirmed cases in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan region is as follows:

Hong Kong: 270,133 (30,281 recoveries, 4,847 deaths)

Macao: 82 (79 recoveries)

Taiwan: 21,492 (13,742 recoveries, 853 deaths)
