U.S. House backs removal of 'most-favored' trade status for Russia, Belarus
00:32

The U.S. House of Representatives has backed legislation to remove the "most favored nation" trade status for Russia and Belarus over the Ukraine crisis. The U.S. has already taken steps to ban the importation of Russian oil, natural gas, seafood, alcohol and diamonds. The vote on Thursday paves the way for higher U.S. tariffs on imports from the countries and puts more economic pressure on Moscow. The measure will be signed into law by President Joe Biden after it has passed the Senate.
