Nuclear heating system on the way in China's northeast
01:18

China has recently launched a nuclear heating project at the Hongyanhe Nuclear Power Station in the northeastern city of Dalian. The designed heating area is 242,400 square meters, which will provide winter heating services to nearly 20,000 residents. Constructions will kick start in June of 2022 and begin providing heating service to Hongyanhe Town the following winter.

As the first nuclear energy heating project in China's northeast, it is expected to bring significant environmental benefits by reducing the annual coal consumption by nearly 12,000 tonnes.
