The Chinese mainland recorded 2,338 new confirmed COVID-19 cases on Monday, with 2,281 linked to local transmissions and 57 from overseas, according to data from the National Health Commission on Tuesday.

A total of 2,432 new asymptomatic cases were also recorded on Monday, and 20,155 asymptomatic patients remain under medical observation.

Confirmed cases on the Chinese mainland now total 134,564, with the death toll remaining at 4,638.

The latest tally of confirmed cases in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan region is as follows:

Hong Kong: 278,185 (34,885 recoveries, 6,119 deaths)

Macao: 82 (79 recoveries)

Taiwan: 22,003 (13,742 recoveries, 853 deaths)
