Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida said on Tuesday that Japan will make a strong protest against Russia after it halted peace treaty negotiations with Japan.

He added that Russia's suspension of peace talks is wrong and "unacceptably harsh."

The Russian Foreign Ministry said Monday that it will no longer continue peace treaty negotiations with Japan in response to Tokyo's sanctions against Russia over the situation in Ukraine.
