A magnitude-6.6 earthquake jolted waters off Taitung County in southeast China's Taiwan region at 1:41 a.m. BJT on Wednesday, according to the China Earthquake Networks Center (CENC). The epicenter, with a depth of 20 kilometers, was monitored at 23.45 degrees north latitude and 121.55 degrees east longitude. Two minutes later, a magnitude-5.7 earthquake hit Hualien County in the region, said the CENC.
