Russia said it would retaliate if Poland expelled Russian diplomats, RIA reported on Wednesday, citing the Russian Foreign Ministry.

Russia's remarks came after Polish media claimed the Polish government had decided to expel approximately 40 Russian diplomats.

Later on the same day, the spokesperson for Poland's minister-special services coordinator, Stanisław Zaryn, confirmed that the head of the Internal Security Agency requested the expulsion of 45 Russian diplomats, who were considered as "officers of the Russian secret services," from the country.
