Visitors enjoy cherry blossoms as COVID-19 restrictions ease in U.S.
01:09

Washington, D.C.'s famed flowering cherry trees are in their peak bloom, attracting thousands to the Tidal Basin. The beloved trees were given to the U.S. by Japan in 1912 as a gift of friendship. During the blooming season, the area is awash in white and pink blossoms and is blocked off for visitors to take in the sights. This year's festival will include both in-person and video events for people still at risk of catching or spreading COVID-19. The Cherry Blossom Festival includes a parade, fireworks, live music and other cultural events that will run until April 17.
