As the crisis in Ukraine escalates, some are asking why China isn't doing more to mediate to help bring peace, since China is in a special position. On the one hand, China has a strong partnership with Russia and solid friendship with the Russian people. On the other hand, China also has a friendly relationship with Ukraine and has reiterated its stance on sovereignty and territorial integrity. China has been calling for peace and maximum restraint on both sides, while sending a total of 15 million RMB (2.3 million USD) worth of humanitarian aids to Ukraine.
