China stands ready to make joint efforts with Turkmenistan to further enhance strategic communication, deepen practical military cooperation in various fields, and contribute to the building of a closer community with a shared future between the two countries, Chinese State Councilor and Minister of National Defense Wei Fenghe said on Friday. 

Wei made the remarks in a video call with Turkmen Defense Minister Begench Gundogdyev. Wei reviewed the progress in bilateral military cooperation in fields such as high-level interactions, professional exchanges and personnel training in recent years. 

China attaches great importance to its relations with Turkmenistan and will always be a close friend and reliable partner of the central Asian country no matter how the international situation changes, he said.

Gundogdyev congratulated China on the success of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics and Paralympics. 

Turkmenistan will stay committed to friendly cooperation with China, continue to strengthen bilateral economic and trade exchanges and cooperation in defense affairs, and upgrade relations between the two countries and their military forces with continuous efforts, he said.
