Russia has said that it will ask payment in rubles for gas sold to "unfriendly" countries, while President Vladimir Putin has asked concerned officials to move all the payment-related operations to the Russian currency in a week. The order came late on March 23 as part of countermeasures against Western countries' freezing of Russia's overseas assets.
