The Chinese mainland recorded 1,254 new confirmed COVID-19 cases on Saturday, with 1,217 linked to local transmissions and 37 from overseas, according to data from the National Health Commission on Sunday.

A total of 4,448 new asymptomatic cases were also recorded on Saturday, and 34,508 asymptomatic patients remain under medical observation.

Confirmed cases on the Chinese mainland now total 143,240, with the death toll remaining at 4,638.

The latest tally of confirmed cases in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan region is as follows:

Hong Kong: 283,395 (41,804 recoveries, 7,101 deaths)

Macao: 82 (80 recoveries)

Taiwan: 22,566 (13,742 recoveries, 853 deaths)
