Japan's Shoma Uno won the men's title at the 2022 World Figure Skating Championships in Montpellier on Saturday, while French ice dancers Gabriella Papadakis and Guillaume Cizeron clinched their fifth title.

Uno, 24, took the victory with a combined score of 312.48 points, topping his personal best.

"I am finally first," said Uno, who took Olympic silver in 2018 and bronze in 2022 and has twice been the runner-up in this event.

He led the short program with 109.63 points, and secured the leading edge by landing five quadruples in the free skate, outscoring second-placed compatriot Yuma Kagiyama.

Beijing Winter Olympics champions Papadakis and Cizeron claimed their fifth world championship ice dancing title with a new world record of 229.82 points, following their victories in this event in 2015, 2016, 2018 and 2019.
