A Lassa fever outbreak in Nigeria has claimed 123 lives since the start of the year, the government's disease control authority said Sunday, amid ongoing measures to reduce infections across the country.  

A total of 659 confirmed cases of Lassa fever have been reported across the West African country this year, the Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC) said in a statement.
