Australia and the UK have announced a joint plan to provide humanitarian assistance to the people of Ukraine, the Australian Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Monday.

The first of two chartered flights carrying hygiene kits, solar lights, kitchen sets, blankets and other basic necessities will leave on Tuesday to help the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR) meet the immediate needs of people displaced by the conflict.
