Ukrainian and Russian negotiators have wrapped up their first day of face-to face talks in Istanbul. Security guarantees, among other issues, were discussed in a bid to end the fighting. Following their meeting, Turkey's foreign minister hailed their progress as the most significant to date. On the ground, Russia says it will "radically" reduce military activity around Kyiv and Chernihiv. Moscow has also called on Ukraine to abide by Geneva Conventions on prisoners of war following unverified reports of torture.
