A number of stadiums and expo centers have been converted into temporary isolation sites to contain the COVID-19 outbreak. Shanghai World Expo Exhibition and Convention Center opened on March 26 with about 6,000 beds available for use.

Moreover, hundreds of medical workers have been dispatched to join the fight against the latest surge of COVID-19. A total of 148 medical workers from the Shanghai General Hospital completed their assembly at the hospital and proceeded to the Hongkou District.

"Staff members from our hospital joined the medical team to aid Hubei in 2020, and we were deployed in the exclusively designated Leishenshan Hospital in Wuhan. This time, as we have drawn on the successful experience in previous anti-epidemic work, we are united as one to tide over the present hard time," said Su Qi, a member of the medical team dispatched by Shanghai General Hospital.

The medical team from the Shanghai General Hospital is responsible for 1,500 beds at the isolation and treatment facility in the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition and Convention Center. Meanwhile, the medical teams from the Shanghai Ninth People's Hospital and Tongji Hospital are jointly responsible for about 3,500 beds at the facility.

The medical workers say they are well prepared for dealing with the cases that will be sent to the center for treatment.
