The Chinese mainland vows to take decisive action should Taiwan separatist forces dare to cross the "red line," a mainland spokesperson said Wednesday in Beijing.
Zhu Fenglian, spokesperson for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, made the remarks following a statement made by Chen Ming-tong, head of the Taiwan region's defense department, on possible conflict between the mainland and Taiwan.
Motivated by the Russia-Ukraine conflict, Chen claimed that should the mainland launch a war, it would be a comprehensive one.
"We have the patience and are willing to do our best to strive for the prospect of peaceful reunification with the greatest sincerity. Meanwhile, we have zero tolerance for 'Taiwan independence.' If the 'Taiwan independence' forces dare to provoke, or even cross the red line, we will take decisive measures," said Zhu.
