Beijing, the capital city of China, has actually witnessed a decline in its number of permanent residents. Its neighboring city Tianjin has experienced an even more significant drop in population. With more people moving out of big cities, 2nd tier cities like Chengdu and Hangzhou are seeing a population boom.
