Chinese electric vehicle (EV) sensations Nio, Xpeng and Li Auto on Friday announced solid deliveries in March, despite external challenges facing them. 

Xpeng led the three companies, delivering 15,414 and 34,561 EV cars in March and the first quarter, respectively. That translates to a year-on-year growth rate of 202 percent and 159 percent, respectively.

Ranking second, Li Auto's delivery in March grew by 125.2 percent to 11,034 units year on year in March. In the first quarter, the company delivered 31,716 units, a year-on-year increase of 152.1 percent. 

NIO had a relatively less stunning performance in March, with 9,985 vehicles delivered, up 37.6 percent from the same period last year. In the first quarter, NIO delivered 25,768 vehicles, increasing 28.5 percent year on year.
