Russian President Putin on March 31 signed a presidential decree that stipulates that "non-friendly countries" will pay for Russian natural gas in rubles from April 1. If any country defaults, Russian will stop supplying gas. 

European countries, including Germany and France, objected and said they would continue to pay for Russian gas in euros while discussing further sanctions against Russia.
