European Parliament President Roberta Metsola on Friday arrived in Kyiv, making her the first EU leader to visit Ukraine since Russia's military operation began.

Metsola has met with Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal and discussed enhancing sanctions against Russia, Shmyhal said via Twitter.

Metsola said on Twitter that the EU will help Ukrainian people rebuild your cities and towns, and continue to take care of people who flee from the country. As of Friday, more than 4.1 million people have left Ukraine amid conflicts with Russia.
