These mountains are covered in ice and snow all year around, and they are part of the Tianshan Mountains in China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. The Kazan River originates here and starts to melt as temperatures rise. The river is the origin of the Bortala River, which flows from west to east into Aibi Lake. This icy mountainous area sits on the border between China and Kazakhstan. Local people call it the Kazan Glacier.
