"San Yue San" is a traditional festival celebrated by many ethnic groups across China. It's held on the third day of the third month on the lunar Chinese calendar. In southern Hainan Province, members of the Li and Miao ethnic groups pay tribute to their cultural heritage with song, dance and even brocade-weaving. This year, however, an activity involving purple clay stands out.
