Firefighters rescued five people trapped in a car stranded by a snowstorm on Friday night in Zayu County, southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region. The waist-high snow caused five people to be stuck in their car at an altitude of 4,690 meters, up a mountain road. After receiving a call for help about 10:00 p.m., a squad of 10 local firefighters rushed to the scene with rescue equipment, cold-proof clothes and other supplies. Firefighters finally managed to reach them at about 1:00 a.m. An hour later, they succeeded in clearing the road and bringing those stranded to safety.
