German Chancellor Olaf Scholz on Sunday said light must be shed on the Russian army's alleged "crimes" against civilians in the Ukrainian town of Bucha, near Kyiv, where a mass grave was uncovered.
German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock said earlier Russia must pay for its "war crimes" in Bucha in the form of more severe sanctions.
Also on Sunday, French President Emmanuel Macron condemned the "unbearable" images of murdered civilians in Bucha and said Russian authorities "must answer for these crimes."
Russia has repeatedly denied Ukrainian claims that it has targeted civilians.
