The Chinese Embassy in Tanzania and representatives of Chinese-funded enterprises in the country Sunday paid tribute to Chinese experts and technicians who sacrificed their lives for the Tanzania-Zambia Railway and other projects, ahead of the Tomb-Sweeping Day.

The Tomb-Sweeping Day, or Qingming Festival, falls on April 5 this year. It is a time-honored holiday where Chinese families pay tribute to the deceased and worship their ancestors by visiting tombs and performing customs and rituals.

The Chinese Experts Cemetery, built in 1972 and located in the western suburb of Dar es Salaam, has 70 graves of Chinese experts and skilled workers, including 47 who died while building the Tanzania-Zambia Railway (from Dar es Salaam of Tanzania to Kapiri Mposhi of Zambia).
