Chinese peacekeeping forces to DR Congo pay tribute to martyr
01:05

The 25th Chinese peacekeeping engineering contingent to the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) held a memorial ceremony on April 3 to pay tribute to peacekeeper Fu Qingli, who died while promoting peace in the DRC. On May 3, 2003, Fu, a member of the first batch of Chinese peacekeeping engineering contingents to the DRC, died due to a sudden illness and ineffective rescue efforts during a mission. The officers and soldiers of the Chinese peacekeeping engineer detachment lined up solemnly in front of the monument to martyr Fu, reviewing his heroic deeds. Thereafter, all Chinese peacekeepers stood in silence, and laid flowers before the monument.
