- The U.S. has imposed its latest sanctions on Sberbank, Russia's largest financial institution, and Alfa-Bank, the country's biggest private bank, escalating its economic punishment of Moscow after alleged civilian killings by Russian forces in Bucha.

- The United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) will vote on Thursday on a resolution to suspend Russia from the UN Human Rights Council.

- European Commission head Ursula von der Leyen said there were more EU sanctions to come. The EU was looking into oil and revenues Russia gets from fossil fuels, she said.

- Russia, on many occasions, denied Ukrainian allegations that it had killed civilians in the Ukrainian town of Bucha, calling the accusations "provocation" or "propaganda".

- The Bucha allegation also caused a fresh round of diplomatic rift between Russia and some European countries, resulting in the expulsion of diplomats on both sides.
