Peruvian transport workers blocked several major highways in capital city of Lima on Monday in protest against rising fuel price and inflation, despite the government's easing of the gasoline tax to mitigate rising international prices. The protests have intensified since last week, leading to clashes with police, temporary food shortages in Lima and disruption to agricultural exports. Peru's President Pedro Castillo has approved a 10 percent increase in the minimum wage following days of protests.
