Western leaders are set announce a further set of sanctions against Russia on Wednesday that will target Russian financial and state-owned bodies, as well as some officials and oligarchs, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki said.
U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken and NATO allies will attend a foreign ministers' meeting on Wednesday and Thursday. Their discussions will focus on providing more military and economic aid to Ukraine. The meeting will also hammer out the agenda of the Madrid Summit, which is scheduled to take place in late June. Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko said Moscow has had no contact with NATO, and that there's nothing to discuss.
Meanwhile, the exodus from Ukraine continues as the conflict rages. The UN estimates that over 4.2 million refugees have left Ukraine for neighboring countries since the conflict began on February 24. The country's Deputy Prime Minister Iryna Vereshchuk said that over 3,800 people were evacuated through Ukrainian evacuation corridors on Tuesday. Authorities will try to bring out thousands more civilians in different areas through 11 humanitarian corridors on Wednesday.
