Japan's used vehicle exports have been hit hard by the outbreak of the Russia-Ukraine conflict. Shipments to Russia were interrupted after Russia started its "special military operation," and sanctions on Russian banks as well as ruble depreciation exacerbated the business environment for Japanese used vehicles. Since late February, one port in Chiba Prefecture has been crammed with more than 3,000 used vehicles waiting to be shipped to Russia.
