The armed conflict in Ukraine enters its seventh week. Western nations have announced more sanctions against Russia. The punitive measures from Washington include sanctions on Russia's largest bank and President Vladimir Putin's adult daughters, as well as a ban on American investment in Russia. The sanctions, however, exclude energy transactions. The European Union warned of more measures to come as the bloc looks to target Russia's revenues from oil and fossil fuel exports. But Ukrainian President Volodymr Zelenskyy on Thursday said that Western politicians' failure to quickly agree on an embargo of Russian oil was costing Ukrainians their lives.
