The China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation, a major state-owned enterprise for project contracting, has built a modern water treatment plant on the banks of a river near a town in Gode Woreda, Ethiopia. The company adopted the extremely difficult construction method of filling and damming to lay a water inlet in the center of the river with the deepest water level. Though facing extreme drought, the clean and clear tap water processed by the modern water treatment plant has provided a daily supply for up to 100,000 local residents.
