The fighting continues in eastern Ukraine. Kyiv said it's been intensifying in the regions of Luhansk, Donetsk, Kharkiv as well as the port city of Mariupol. The regional military governor of Luhansk has been urging civilians to evacuate some towns. Ukraine has called for more weapons from NATO. 

The Russian defense ministry said its troops had blocked two cities near Donetsk, destroying motorized infantry and tank groups. It said they also attacked a storage point for military equipment in Zhytomyr, along with some equipment being transferred to the Donbas region for Ukraine troops.
